The first ones are from Africa and the second ones from the USA.

Answer #2:

Culture really, African Americans derive from the slaves while africans are the ones that were not enslaved we have different upbrinings and morals to be honest

Answer #3:

Because they're different. Africans are different from African americans, from different countries, speak different ways.

Answer #4:

African-Americans are from America. =)

Answer #5:

There are African Americans who are polite, speak proper english, value education, and go to college. I know COUNTLESS black american teens like that.

Answer #6:

I hate Africans. They come here and make us African Americans look bad when they succeed and make something of themselves. How can I claim I am being held down by racism when they are black too, yet thriving? Pisses me off.

Answer #7:

How come Asians act differently from Asian Americans?
Europeans are different from White Americans

why single us out? the difference is one is from the United States and the other is from the another country

Answer #8:

Different continents , different ways of living . DUH !

Answer #9:

Africans are pompous.

Answer #10:

Some of the most accomplished, most intelligent people I know are black. They value education so much that they were the ones who taught me how to read (which I assure you, I am excellent at). This is just a generalization. In every race, you have people who are more intelligent, and people who couldn't count to ten if their life depended on it. What about rednecks? They're white. Since when did African Americans get "new words and phrases every month"? I'm black. I value education more than anything else. I'm going to college and aspiring to be either a physician or an areospace engineer. I'm polite to anyone who doesn't piss me off, which is the case with most people, and I always speak proper English in school. I proved that I'm more proper than you by remembering to capitalize the word "English." I suggest you go educate yourself about the world's different cultures and stop disrespecting people until you find a real reason to.

Answer #11:

Africans value education so much because many places are like the third world and there is no decent chance of an education. Hence when they get the chance to become immigrants they sure as hell make sure they get an education they could not get otherwise... And citizenship.

Answer #12:

Everyone acts differently, actions are very rarely attributed to the culture someone comes from unless they are group actions based on their culture? There's nothing in African American culture that prohibits them from showing those traits you mentioned and as people have mentioned some do show them.. Stereotypes are very often cruel and inaccurate, based on prejudices or lies, and very often have negative effects when they are adopted by society.

Answer #13:

Africans look at African Americans as lost souls.

Answer #14:

You obviously know nothing about the majority of AAs, if you think there aren't any who value education, go to college, are polite, speak proper English and so what if they speak with different accents! You must not know too much about Americans of any race, or you would know different people from different regions and different backgrounds have different accents! You know, you shouldn't comment on things you don't know much about.

Answer #15:

I'm "African American" I have a graduated from college, I'm very polite, I speak "proper english" etc..

Answer #16:

there are african americans that are just what you said africans are. i know this because im african american and i was taught to use proper english, have morals, value my education and im in college now. not to leave out that i try to be as polite as possible. my whole family was raised with such values as i think a lot of AA families are but each individaul has to choose to adhere to what they are taught or not. this goes for anybody regardless of race. i have seen many africans that are the exact oppisite of what you describe them to be and african american likewise. it boils down to the person and nothing else.
